The Dyke Pub is saved

The Dyke pub, formerly the Dyke Tavern in Dyke Road, Brighton, closed suddenly in September 2016.

It sparked a battle from the community to save it from being closed and converted into flats.

The Dyke Pub Preservation Society was set up, and fundraising efforts began to purchase it.

But in recent weeks, after nearly three years, the pub had a “soft launch” opening, ahead of a big party.

New owner Will Farmer has now taken over part of the building and his customers are already delighted.

He got support from an online crowdfunding campaign which raised more than £20,000.

Brighton property firm John Hoole Estate Agents were one of the supporters.
